What fences do Bakersfield properties need?
Bakersfield runs from older central neighborhoods to newer subdivisions in the southwest and northwest, with industrial and oil-field land on the edges. The requests we hear most:
- Six-foot back-yard privacy, the city's side and rear limit, in vinyl or wood on steel posts.
- Wind repairs after gusty spring and fall storms.
- RV and trailer gates on wider lots.
- Commercial yard fencing for equipment, pipe and vehicle storage.
City limits matter. Oildale and Rosedale follow Kern County rules, Shafter and Delano have their own city codes, and Bakersfield uses its own zoning code. See the height guide and permit guide.
