Can vinyl handle a Bakersfield summer?
Good vinyl can. The difference is in the details. Look for UV-stabilized material, which resists yellowing and brittleness. Pick white, tan or other light colors, since darker vinyl absorbs more heat and moves more. Make sure the installer leaves expansion room where rails meet posts, or panels can bow on the hottest days.
What about wind?
A hollow vinyl post on its own is not built for strong gusts. On exposed runs we add aluminum or steel post stiffeners, set posts deeper, and keep bays short. Semi-privacy styles with small gaps cut the wind load while still blocking most of the view.
And dust?
Vinyl's smooth face is the easiest fence surface to clean. A garden hose clears dust after a windy week, and there is nothing to sand, stain or paint.
What vinyl styles are available?
- Six-foot solid privacy for back and side yards.
- Semi-privacy and lattice-top for airflow.
- Two- and three-rail ranch style for larger lots in Rosedale and the county.
- Picket fences under 4 feet for front yards.
How much does vinyl cost?
Cost guides list vinyl at roughly $25 to $55 per linear foot installed as of October 2026. Ranch rail costs less than solid privacy, and post stiffeners add a little to each post.
